FIVE GUYS @FashionIsland #burger and fries review
There was no incentive to review Five Guys located in the Fashion Island (Newport Beach, CA) location
Fashion Island is a gorgeous outdoors, upscale mall located in Newport Beach, CA. If one needs a break from the outdoors and is done shopping but needs to refuel, there is a food court option located at the building near the koi pond. There are other shops inside, so you haven't completely escaped the opportunity to rest your credit cards.
The food court doesn't have many options. From what I recall there were fish tacos, gelato, FIVE GUYS, paninis, a grill, Taco Bell, Chik-Fil-A, Panda Express, Baking Bettys (cookies to be reviewed at another time) and Subway.
I grew up in Orange County, so as a kid it looked really different. You could walk right over to a grocery store, there was a big salad bar, a sushi joint, and more.
This trip I was craving something simple. A burger and fries. I was intrigued by the FIVE GUYS menu because it was a build your own style. You pay for your burger/cheese burger and then pick as many load on items as you want for free. I'm totally not a fan of salads on my burger, so I got ketchup, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms.
We each got a soda fountain drink, a burger, and a large fries to split. The bill came to $39
This was one of the messiest burgers I had ever eaten. But also one of the tastiest! Probably one of my top five of all time. No joke, It was so fresh.
The fries came in a tall cup for everyone to share. They were beautifully crisp on the outside and super soft on the inside. Just the right amount of salt. My daughter absolutely loved them!
There are so many other places to try and dine at Fashion Island, so I will be testing them out slowly but surely. But I couldn't help but give FIVE GUYS props for their tasty food.
